Why are the HTML pages installed in Notepad when I preview the store?

This can happen if Notepad has been specified as the default application for HTML Documents.
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Select the Programs tab in Tools | Internet Options.
- Tick 'Internet explorer must check to see whether it is the default browser'.
- Click OK.
- Exit and restart Internet Explorer.
- When IE starts you should be asked if you require to make Internet Explorer the default browser, select Yes.

On a Windows ME PC, Creative does not start or displays the mistake:

This is a known bug with Windows ME when upgrading from Windows 98.

My database is corrupt. How can I recover my data?

From 'Housekeeping | Backup | Recover Database…' you can select to restore either the present backup or the last backup of the database made when exiting Creative Ecommerce. You can also restore the database from any other form of backup that you may have chosen to make. Note that when restoring the database you will loose any changes made since the backup was made including orders downloaded and changes made to orders. .

When I effort to start a program, I get the following error message:
A device close to the system is not functioning.
The Catalog.exe file is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6453

I am using Windows 98
This can happen when a Windows file called Mfc42.dll becomes ruined.
To resolve this issue, extract a new copy of the Mfc42.dll file from your normal Windows 98 CD-ROM into the Windows System folder using the System File Checker tool.

To start the System File Checker tool, click Start, click Run, type sfc.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.

Invalid cursor state when trying to click anything within Creative.

This can generally be solved by using CTRL ALT and DELETE to shut the program down. Re-open the software and go to Housekeeping | Compact Databases. Tick both boxes and proceed. After a short wait Creative must say it requires to be restarted. Restart it and all should be well. .

My Creative software is running slow in all feature. How can I speed it up?

You may have ODBC Tracing switched on.
To check/stop the tracing:-

1.Open 'Control Panel'

2.Open (ODBC) Data Sources (also known as 'ODBC' or simply 'Data Sources').

3. Go to the 'Tracing' tab

4.Click 'Stop tracing now'. You may have ODBC Tracing switched on.

Reports ODBC mistakes as soon as Creative is open, message is "file 'I' is in use, path to database incorrect"

This is generally caused by an .ldb (lock) file in the site1 directory, this file requires to be deleted, and Creative will open correctly. All of the file's attributes will require to be changed from read-only to normal. requirement.

When trying to open Creative getting mistakes message: 'Internal OLE automation mistakes'

Make sure no other applications are running and then run the MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) patch from the Creative Installation CD. The file is called MDAC_TYP.EXE, and is placed in the MDAC folder. You may require re-booting the PC after installation.
