I receive an "Internal Server Error" page when I try and execute a Perl script on my server. I have a Redhat Linux server.

By default, Redhat Linux servers do not have ASCII uploads enabled - only BINARY. This means that the scripts are corrupted as they are uploaded as Actinic requires script files to be uploaded in ASCII.

To workaround this you have to enable ASCII transfers on the server. If you are a server administrator then do the following (if you are not a server administrator, then you will need to tell your web host to do the following).

Open the vsftpd.conf file. This may exist twice on the server, so edit the files in the following locations:

/etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf
/etc/vsftpd.conf

Within it, locate the line

ascii_upload_enable=YES

And uncomment it by removing the hash '#' from the beginning of the line.

Then you need to restart the xinetd service (and also the vsftpd service) and Actinic should upload correctly.

An error occurred while attempting to generate a unique order number. Actinic is unable to lock the counter file. No such file or directory.

This may be caused by a number of things. However, if the server is running NT with IIS then one possible cause may be that Actinic is unable to rename a file using a relative path.

Specifying the absolute path (drive:path_to_folder) for 'Path from CGI-BIN to acatalog Directory' in 'Web | Network Setup' may resolve the problem.

Keep getting Gateway 502 error whilst configuring web site details for my NT server.

Gateway 502 errors can happen when the server is confused about the settings (it can sometimes be seen, for example, when there are a mixture of IP addresses and domain names).The actual entry for this in the 'Web Server Result (HTML Error) Codes' document states:-"502 - Bad Gateway - The server received an invalid response from the gateway or upstream server it accessed in attempting to fulfill the request."

Actinic has been uploaded to the site and appears to be in place. However, at the end of the uploading process we got the following message -The path from the cgi-bin to the catalog directory is not correct. It appears as if the catalog directory does not exist on the remote host.Possible cause - the path from the cgi-bin to the catalog directory is not correct - the catalog directory has been removed or renamed

Due to the mapping issues within IIS servers, you will need to 'fool' Actinic into uploading to the correct area.In the 'Path from CGI-BIN to Catalog Directory' field you will need to put- ./acatalog/and in the 'Path from CGI-BIN to Catalog Directory as viewed by the FTP server' field you will need to put- ../acatalog/

If this subsequently produces an error copying fulltext.txt to oldtext.txt, you will need to replace 'Path from CGI-BIN to Catalog Directory' field with the absolute path (from the drive letter, e.g. e:/web/users/yoursite/acatalog/) but the 'Path from CGI-BIN to Catalog Directory as viewed by the FTP server' field will need to remain as- ../acatalog/

My store's acatalog directory is uploading into the CGI BIN on my server. How do I stop this?

Probably the path from the CGI Bin to the acatalog directory in Web | Network Setup is incorrect.

If it is currently set to ./acatalog then try ../acatalog and refresh the site (Web | Refresh Website). Once the problem is resolved you should remove the acatalog folder from the cgi-bi
