What causes the following error?

A General Script Error Occurred

Error: Error executing the advanced shipping plug-in script. Can't locate Digest/MD5.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/libdata/perl/5.00503/mach
/usr/libdata/perl/5.00503 /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/i386-freebsd /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005. cgi-bin cgi-bin cgi-bin cgi-bin cgi-bin cgi-bin) at sc000001.pm line 62, chunk 64.

There is a bug in Perl 5.005 which results in this error.

The problem can be fixed either by upgrading to a later version of Perl on the server or by patching 2 of the Perl scripts.

To patch the scripts: -

- Locate the file Actinic.pm in the site folder.
- Edit the file with a text editor such as Notepad.
- Search for 'sub HTTPS_SendAndReceive'.
- Then search for '$@'.
- You will see…

- Save and Exit.
- Locate the file ActinicSSL.pm in the site folder.
- Edit the file with a text editor such as Notepad.
- Search for 'sub instantiateMD5Object'.
- Then search for '$@'.
- You will see…

- Save and Exit.
- Update the site.

Actinic is not able to provide any detailed support for script changes made. If you find that there is a problem, an original copy of the script can be found within the 'Original' folder in your installation. Copy this into your site folder.

When registered customers are trying to log in an error is received - "The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, xxxxx@xxxxx.xxx and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error".

This is usually caused by the path from the cgi-bin to the acatalog directory being incorrect within 'Web | Network Setup'. Check with your web host for the correct path.

When I try adding to cart I receive the following error message:

Error: Setup blob version is 25, but only version 24 is supported

This can often happen when you have upgraded your store to the latest version, but for some reason Actinic is not using the latest Perl scripts.

To fix this, go to the 'Original' folder within your installation directory and COPY all files with the extension *.pl and *.pm to the clipboard. Then, paste them within your site folder (normally 'Site1') - overwriting all existing files.

Also, copy the 'ShippingTemplate.pl' file from 'Original\ShipControl' into 'Site1\ShipControl' (or equivalent).

Now, go to 'Web | Refresh Website' to refresh the site.

This is now done automatically via 'Help | Troubleshooting' click on 'Purge and Refresh Web Site'.

When I try to add a product to the shopping cart, I receive the following error message:

A General Script Error Occurred

Press the Browser back button and try again or contact the site owner

Copy all the *.pm and *.pl files from 'Actinic v8\Original' into 'Actinic Ecommerce v8\Sites\Site1' (or whatever your site folder is called). Then go to 'Web | Refresh Website.' This should fix it. This is now done automatically via 'Help | Troubleshooting' click on 'Purge and Refresh Web Site'.

I get an Internal Server Error when adding to cart from a large section.

This can happen where a section contains many products each with many components or attributes. The server error is usually 'The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request'.

When the user clicks the add to cart button all the possible combinations of product selections in the current section are loaded into (virtual) memory.

For example if there are 23 products in the current section and each product has 3 attributes and the attributes have 5, 6 and 9 Choices respectively then this results in a total of 6210 (23 * 5 * 6 * 9) choices

If the web server process has not been allocated enough system resources an error will be generated. If the web server has enough system resources but cannot process the information fast enough the client's browser may
timeout. Either way, the above error can occur.

The problem can be resolved, either by increasing the system resources for the web server process or by reducing the number of product combinations in the section causing the error.

Having uploaded the store, the scripts all fail with an error 500, 'Internal Server Error'.

This may be caused by the configuration of the FTP server.

Scripts must be uploaded to the server in ASCII mode. This mode instructs the FTP Server to adjust the format of the file to match the expected text format expected by the operating systems.

Some FTP Servers have configuration options to ignore the instruction to convert the text files in ASCII mode.

One such FTP Server is VSFTPD that requires the setting…
