How can I upload two Creative stores to one web server?
You can run as many sites you
want on the same web server as long as
a) Each site is using a different 'CGI-Script ID'
b) Each site is uploading to a different 'acatalog' folder.
Giving Each Site a Different 'CGI-Script ID'
The ID is set in 'Web | Network Setup' in the a 'CGI-Script
ID Number' field. Give your first site an ID of '1', the second
an ID of '2' etc.
Uploading Each Site To A Different 'acatalog' Folder Creative
uploads to a folder called 'acatalog' on the web site. Where
this folder is is up to you. For example, for your first site
you may put the 'acatalog' folder in a sub-folder on the server
called 'site1' and then upload the second store to an 'acatalog'
folder called 'site2'.
In which case you use the settings similar to the following
in 'Web | Network Setup' for the first site... Catalog URL:
http://your.URL/site1/acatalog/ Path From CGI-BIN to acatalog
Folder: ../htdocs/site1/acatalog/ And then for the second site....
Catalog URL: http://your.URL/site2/acatalog/ Path From CGI-BIN
to acatalog Folder: ../htdocs/site2/acatalog/ |

The company which hosts my store does not allow me to use their
SMTP server. How do I get around this?
If your host will not allow use
of their SMTP server, then your site will not be able to send
emails to you or your customers.
One of our partners has written a patch that supports the 'sendmail'
protocol. Check out the perl patch at http://www.drillpine.biz/actinicstuff.html
Please note that Creative will not be able to support you in
this. You should be able to contact Norman Rouxel via his website
or via the Creative Community Support Forum. |

How do I move the store to another server without losing
orders or the order number sequence?
1/. Suspend the current shop
by ticking 'Suspended' in 'View | Business Settings | Orders'
and updating the site 'Web | Update Website'.
2/. Allow time for any current buyers to complete their orders.
3/. Retrieve the orders.
4/. Use the 'Help | Troubleshooting' menu to query the last
order number on the old server.
5/. If the new store will have a different server host/domain
name then change the network settings in Creative for the new
server.
6/. Do a site refresh. Note that the shop should remain suspended.
7/. Use the 'Help | Troubleshooting' menu to set the last order
number on the new server to the same number retrieved above
at step 4.
8/. Un-suspend the shop and update the site ( Web | Update Website
).
9/. Place a test order and download it to check that the new
site is working. Once you are satisfied that the new site is
functioning correctly the old site can be deleted from the server.

When I try and use the Web Configuration Wizard or the 'Test'
button in 'Advanced | Network Setup', the following message
is displayed.... An error occured while checking the FTP transfer
mode -- There are no more files. Try using the other mode
This is because the destination directory that the
software attempts to load to contains no files. Uploading a
file manually into this directory enables the software to continue. |

Test
settings fails with 'invalid mail server'
When going through a proxy, a message may sometimes be seen
saying that the mail server is invalid/incorrect. Ignore the
message in this instance and upload Creative as usual. The initial
order email will be sent as normal..

I am having trouble uploading my Creative store through my proxy
server. I am using the Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA)
Server.
This is often because your proxy server has not been set up
to accept FTP connections from other machines.
The following steps you get you going again:
Check in Internet Explorer under 'Tools | Internet option |
Connections | LAN settings' that the 'Use Proxy' checkbox is
checked. Also, click 'Advanced' and ensure you are using the
proxy server for all protocols.
Then in Creative under 'Web | Network Set-up', ensure you have
'Use Passive FTP transfers' checked Then click the 'Proxy' button
and ensure that HTTP Settings are set to 'Default Windows Settings'
and the FTP settings are set to none.
Finally, open the ISA Administration tool, and then expand the
Server settings.
- Expand Access Policy, and then click IP Packet Filters.
- In the right pane, click Create Packet Filter.
- For the filter settings, specify the following settings, and
then click Next:
Name: FTP Server TCP 21 Local
Allow Packet Transmission
Custom:
IP Protocol: TCP
Direction: Inbound
Local port: Fixed port
Port number: 21
Remote port: All ports
Name: FTP Server TCP 20 Local
Allow Packet Transmission
Custom:
IP Protocol: TCP
Direction: Outbound Local
port: Fixed port
Port number: 20
Remote port: All ports
- In the Apply this packet filter to box, click Default IP addresses
for each external interface on the ISA Server computer, and
then click Next.
- In the Remote Computers section, click either All remote computers
or Only this remote computer, and then click Next. This setting
specifies the host, which is the terminal server client that
accesses the Terminal Services session. Click Finish. |

Test
settings fails with 'incorrect permissions on CGI-BIN' or Test
settings fails with 'cannot run test settings script'.
You will need to have read/write/execute permissions on the
CGI-BIN. Your web hosting company may well have to do this. |

How do I configure Creative to work with ISA Server 2000?

in the Technical Documents Section. |

Can
I upload my store without FTP access to my server?
Yes - this is detailed in the Advanced User Guide (available
to download from www.actinic.co.uk) |
|
When
I try and use the Web Configuration Wizard or the 'Test' button
in 'Web | Network Setup', the following message is displayed....
An error occurred while checking the FTP transfer mode -- There
are no more files. Try using the other mode.
I am uploading to a Cobalt Raq server.
This can happen when the FTP login takes you to a completely
different part of the server to where your web site is located.
To correct this error, use the full server path to the cgi-bin
in the 'Path to CGI-BIN' field (under 'Server Host').
For example: /home/web11049/website/cgi/ |

Why
does the Configuration Wizard tell me I have CyberSitter installed
when I don't?
During the configuration, Creative uploads test files to the
server and then tries to read them. While testing for Cybersitter,
Creative determines that CyberSitter has blocked the test page
if the page cannot be read. Unfortunately, the same situation
arises if the uploaded test file could not be written due to
Disk Allocation exceeded.
Check the site disk usage against the allocation size. |

In the field 'Mail SMTP Server', what format goes in it?
In the SMTP server field, the mail server of the hosting company
is expected. This format would normally be something like:-mail.yourserver.co.uk
or smtpmail.yourserver.co.uk This is specific to your hosting
company, so would require confirmation by them. |
|
How
do I setup the network settings to be able to upload my store?
Within Creative either click on Web | Network Setup, if you know
the settings, or click on Web | Configure Web Site Details,
if you are unsure. Within this option, you will need to enter
very little detail, as Creative will make intelligent guesses
for you. |
|
How
do I create an import file for network settings?
From 'Web | Network Setup' select Export and follow the instructions,
this will create a file which can be used as a template to create
a new import file. Edit the resulting file with a text editor
such as Notepad and change the values for the required Network
Configuration. Save the file as a new file. The file can now
be imported to 'Web | Network Setup'. |
