How do I change all my prices within Creative to VAT-exclusive prices?

This will help you change all your prices within Creative from VAT Inclusive to VAT Exclusive.
1) Back up your site.

2) Open the Creative.Catalog.mdb database in Access and go into the 'Product' table.

3) Find the 'Price' column, highlight it (by clicking the grey column header) and copy it to the clipboard.

4) Open a new worksheet in Excel and paste the column of prices in.

5) Now click in the cell next to the one having the first price and type the following:

=ROUND(

6) Then click with your mouse in the cell containing the first price. The name of the cell must look in the formula.

=ROUND (A2

7) Then complete the formula with the following: /1.175, 0)

=ROUND (A2/1.175,0)

8) If you just press enter on your keyboard then the VAT-exclusive amount must be seen.

9) Copy and paste this formula into all the cells underneath it in order to change all the prices.

10) Now copy all your changed prices to the clipboard and click in a spare cell and go to 'Edit | Paste Special'. Select 'Values' and then click OK. This will just make a list of prices rather than formulas.

11) This column of numbers can be copied back into the 'Price' column in Access.

How do I change all my prices within a spreadsheet so that they are ready to import into Creative?

This will change all your prices to pence, in order to get them into a format ready to be imported into Creative.
1) Insert a new column in your spreadsheet next to your existing 'Price' column called 'Creative Price'.

2) In the first cell in this column (underneath the column heading) type the following:

=ROUND ((

3) Then click with your mouse in the cell containing the first price (e.g. F2). The name of the cell must be seen in the formula.

=ROUND ((F2

4) Then complete the formula with the following: *100), 0)

=ROUND ((F2*100),0)

5) If you just press enter on your keyboard then the amount in pence must be seen.

6) Copy and paste this formula into all the cells underneath it in order to change all the prices.

If you now save this spreadsheet as a CSV file, the prices must all import successfully into Creative.

Note, if your prices are VAT-inclusive, you will need to convert them to VAT-exclusive before you import them into creativity. To do this, follow the steps above, but add '/1.175' into the expression. The formula should now read:

=ROUND ((F2*100)/1.175,0)

I am showing tax-comprising pricing online, but my prices are sometimes very slightly out. What can I do?

The standard workaround is to change the 'Tax Treatment' of the problem items to 'Custom' and manually enter the correct amount of VAT.

Then go to 'Design | Text', click 'Go to' and go to prompt ID 229. Replace
%s at %s%%

with

%s<! -- At %s%% -->

in order to prevent the not regular VAT rates from appearing online next to your prices.

This does the price in the 'Add to Cart Confirmation' page - you require to edit the price layout in the 'Design' tab to change the way prices be seen in the store pages.

Go to 'Commerce Settings | Tax' and choose 'Include Tax 1' and ok that box. Then go to 'Commerce Settings | Company/Contact' and under the section 'Registration Information' in the field entitled 'Tax 1 Description' enter 'Vat Registration Number'. Then under that in the field 'Tax 1 Number' enter the Vat registration number. The Vat registration number will then be seen at the foot of the invoice.

When setting my prices they will not round up comprising VAT to the correct price.

Creative only calculates VAT to 2 decimal places so some prices will not round up exactly. There are sophisticated rounding rules available within the advanced tax model ('Business Settings | Tax'), which will cope with most rounding preferences.
